Seminário internacional debate a importância da comunicação na luta sindical
A cidade de Caracas na Venezuela sediou, nos dias 20 e 21 de julho, o Seminário Latino Americano FLATEC – IPLAC (Federação Latino Americana de Trabalhadores de Educação e Cultura - Instituto Pedagógico Latino Americano e do Caribe), que teve como tema: "Os meios de comunicação e os desafios da integração latino americana e caribenha”. A CONTEE e suas entidades filiadas foram representadas na atividade pelos dirigentes:: Edson de Paula Lima, José Carlos Padilha Areas, João Batista da Silveira, Cristina de Castro, Décio Braga, Rogerlan Morais, Celina Areas e Marco Eliel.
O Seminário teve o objetivo de sensibilizar os trabalhadores das áreas de educação e cultura acerca da importância da comunicação como direito e a necessidade da criação de novos marcos regulatórios e de políticas públicas o sentido de democratizar a comunicação. A iniciativa está também relacionada aos ataques da mídia, que servem aos interesses da manutenção da política neoliberal, frente às possibilidades históricas da América Latina e Caribe de construir de forma livre, com o povo, seu destino, enquanto região livre, justa e soberana.
De acordo com a Secretária Geral da CONTEE, Cristina Castro, “o direito à informação como bandeira de luta e reivindicação, que reforça o sentido libertador dos povos, foi sem dúvida o desafio mais importante apresentado no Seminário”. Segundo a dirigente, também foi objetivo da atividade propor aos professores e trabalhadores em educação a reflexão sobre a influência da comunicação e sobre os conteúdos propostos em sala de aula e na escola, que “precisam trazer a reflexão critica para de fato formar cidadãos conscientes e comprometidos com as necessárias transformações sociais”.
