Sete estados ganharão mais 121 salas de leitura nos próximos meses
Nos próximos três meses, mais 121 salas de leitura serão implantadas em sete estados do Brasil pelo projeto Leitura para Todos, que tem como objetivo ampliar o acesso da população aos livros.
Criado há seis anos com base na Lei de Incentivo à Cultura, o projeto prevê que escolas públicas, associações de bairro, hospitais, presídios e outras entidades ganhem acervos próprios, abertos à comunidade local, com obras nacionais e estrangeiras de diferentes áreas de interesse. Já existem no país 552 salas em operação, com mais de 673 mil livros disponíveis para consulta e circulação.
"O projeto hoje evoluiu muito. Atendemos não só comunidades de baixa renda. Tomou uma proporção maior, contemplando outros segmentos como profissionais de saúde, enfermos e seus acompanhantes”, afirmou a coordenadora Cristina Oldemburg, que representa o instituto gestor do projeto.
As próximas salas inauguradas serão em Brasília, nas cidades satélites do Distrito Federal, em Triunfo (RS), Salvador (BA), Sete Lagoas (MG), Cabo de Santo Agostinho (PE), Garanhuns (PE), São Paulo (SP), Cunha (SP), Ribeirão Preto (SP), Osasco (SP), Porto Feliz (SP), no Rio de Janeiro (RJ), em Duque de Caxias (RJ), Nova Iguaçu (RJ), Rio Bonito (RJ), Queimados (RJ), São Gonçalo (RJ), São João do Meriti (RJ), Itaboraí (RJ), Mesquita (RJ) e Belford Roxo (RJ).
Oldemburg ressaltou que no caso das escolas, as salas de leitura não podem se configurar com um acervo particular, mas sim ser “polos culturais comunitários, um instrumento de incentivo à leitura e de relacionamento entre escola e a comunidade”.
