Governos anteriores não fizeram o dever de casa, afirma o presidente Lula
Ao destacar os investimentos do seu governo em todas as etapas e modalidades da educação brasileira, o presidente Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva disse que os países desenvolvidos, especialmente após a segunda guerra mundial, investiram em educação, enquanto o Brasil “não fez o dever de casa”. O presidente fez o comentário durante a inauguração da unidade de Campina Grande do Instituto Federal de Educação Ciência e Tecnologia da Paraíba. “Se todo o mundo diz que a prioridade é educação, porque os governos anteriores não fizeram o investimento necessário?” – questionou o presidente.
Lula disse ainda que o esforço de todos os setores do governo, e na área de educação não é diferente, vai além da ampliação dos investimentos e tem o intuito de equiparar as oportunidades entre as regiões do país, bem como entre interior e capital. “O Norte e o Nordeste precisam das mesmas oportunidades do Sul e do Sudeste”, afirmou. “A grande maioria das universidades brasileiras fica nas capitais. Nós já colocamos 104 extensões universitárias no interior do país, para que o jovem tenha oportunidades na sua cidade e na sua região.”
O presidente destacou que as novas unidades dos institutos e das universidades federais levam em conta os arranjos produtivos locais, com mais cursos e vagas, pensando a realidade local e regional. Sobre o programa Pro-Infância, que tem como objetivo a construção de creches e pré-escolas, disse que a intenção é que nenhuma mãe deixe de trabalhar por não ter local onde deixar os filhos.
Ao finalizar o discurso, o presidente disse que espera que o sucessor faça mais do que ele em todas as áreas de governo. “Se fizemos 214 unidades dos institutos federais, que o próximo presidente faça 300. Se fizemos 10 novas universidades, que o próximo presidente faça 20”, concluiu.
