Haddad destaca investimentos ao inaugurar campus na Paraíba
O ministro da Educação, Fernando Haddad, voltou a relacionar o desempenho econômico do Brasil nos últimos anos à capacidade do atual governo de investir em obras de infraestrutura e, sobretudo, em projetos relacionados à educação. A afirmação foi feita nesta terça, 28, na cerimônia de inauguração da unidade de Campina Grande do Instituto Federal de Ciência e Tecnologia da Paraíba, que teve a presença do presidente Lula.
Haddad lembrou as políticas do Ministério da Educação voltadas aos municípios da região da Borborema. Como exemplos, citou o Pró-Infância, de construção de creches e pré-escolas, o Fundeb, que tem complementação da União para 10 Estados, da educação profissional e tecnológica e da expansão da educação superior, especialmente na Universidade Federal de Campina Grande (UFCG).
“O sistema gerou 113 mil vagas universitárias desde 1808, quando a família real criou o primeiro curso superior. Nos vestibulares de 2009 e 2010, com a expansão promovida pelo governo Lula, serão 227 mil vagas de ingresso nas universidades federais”, destacou Haddad.
O ministro ressaltou ainda a expansão da educação profissional e tecnológica, com o parque federal passando de 140 escolas em 2002 para 354 escolas ao final de 2010. Haddad recordou que há 10 anos o Congresso Nacional aprovou uma lei que proibia a expansão federal da rede de escolas federais, e foi revogada em 2005 pelo governo Lula. “Se essa lei não tivesse sido revogada, certamente não estaríamos entregando esta escola aqui hoje”, finalizou Haddad.
O campus do IFPB oferece cursos técnicos de nível médio em informática e mineração. Também tem o curso superior de tecnologia em telemática. Atualmente, 729 estudantes estão matriculados na instituição. Já foram contratados por concurso 40 professores e 33 técnico-administrativos. Na escola foram investidos R$ 5 milhões.
