Ao celebrar nesta quarta-feira, 23, o centenário da educação profissional brasileira, o ministro da Educação, Fernando Haddad, apresentou, em rede nacional de rádio e televisão, a evolução do número de escolas, sua distribuição pelo país e o papel que desempenham.

Em 1909, disse Haddad, o presidente da República Nilo Peçanha criou as 19 primeiras escolas técnicas federais. Nos cem anos seguintes, governos sucessivos chegaram a 140 escolas. Nos últimos sete anos, de 2003 a 2009, “o governo federal transformou o cenário do ensino técnico profissional” com a criação de 87 novas escolas que já estão em funcionamento.

E tem mais, disse o ministro. Estão em construção 127 escolas com investimentos que superam R$ 1 bilhão. Isso permitirá que, ao final de 2010, o Brasil tenha 354 escolas de educação profissional e 500 mil alunos. A outra novidade foi a criação dos 38 institutos de educação, ciência e tecnologia que são responsáveis pela coordenação de toda a rede.

Haddad destacou que, além de mais escolas e mais cursos é importante a diversidade na oferta de formação: a rede federal de educação profissional e tecnológica oferece cursos técnicos de nível médio, cursos superiores de tecnologia e licenciaturas em ciências e matemática. “Celebramos uma verdadeira transformação no ensino técnico e profissional”, disse Haddad.
