Os integrantes do Conselho Nacional de Educação (CNE) decidiram nesta quarta-feira,7, por unanimidade, manter a decisão do Ministério da Educação de descredenciar a Universidade Estadual do Tocantins (Unitins) para oferta de cursos de graduação a distância.

A decisão do CNE foi baseada em processo administrativo aberto pelo MEC para averiguar uma série de irregularidades e pelo fato da instituição não assinar o termo de saneamento de deficiências com o ministério. A Unitins também não cumpriu o Termo de Ajuste de Conduta (TAC), assinado entre o MEC, Unitins e Ministério Público Federal de Tocantins, no mês de abril.

O processo de supervisão da Unitins pelo MEC foi iniciado no ano passado, quando diversas irregularidades foram identificadas. Entre elas, a cobrança de mensalidades por parte de uma instituição pública de ensino, problemas de qualidade na oferta dos cursos, e a delegação de competências acadêmicas para parceiros não credenciados pelo ministério na oferta de cursos superiores na modalidade a distância. Foi constatada também a oferta dos cursos a distância em polos irregulares e quantidade insuficiente de professores e tutores.

O relator do processo no Conselho, Paulo Barone, disse que a maior preocupação dos conselheiros é a de garantir os direitos dos estudantes e ofertar um ensino de qualidade. Diante disso, o Conselho consolidou a proposta da secretaria de Educação a Distância do MEC de permitir que os alunos que desejarem concluir seus cursos na Unitins tenham seus direitos garantidos. A decisão do Conselho terá que ser homologada pelo ministro da Educação.
