Sem diploma obrigatório, cai a procura por cursos de jornalismo
O número de candidatos ao curso de jornalismo caiu na Universidade de São Paulo (USP), na Universidade Estadual Paulista (Unesp) e na Universidade Federal do Paraná (UFPR) — instituições que, normalmente, são muito procuradas por pleiteantes às vagas na área. O fim da obrigatoriedade do diploma para jornalistas, decidida em 17 de junho pelo Supremo Tribunal Federal (STF), é apontada como uma das principais justificativas à baixa.
O jornalismo da USP, vinculado à tradicional Escola de Comunicação e Artes (ECA), registrou adesão de 1.941 candidatos para o curso, contra 2.197 no ano anterior. Os números apontam queda de 12% na procura pela graduação. “O jornalismo esteve na berlinda este ano”, avalia José Coelho Sobrinho, professor da USP. Para ele, o fim do diploma “pode ter feito muitos pensarem: 'Por que eu vou fazer este curso?'", segundo informa o R7.
Sobrinho acusa ainda a baixa no total de adesões à Fuvest como parâmetro para justificar o resultado apresentado por jornalismo. A seu ver, as políticas educacionais do governo, como o Prouni, e o aumento de vagas nas universidades estaduais, fizeram com que todos os cursos apresentassem baixa — não apenas a área de comunicação social. Neste ano, 128 mil se inscreveram para a Fuvest, contra 133 mil em 2008.
Na Unesp, sediada em Bauru (SP), a baixa ficou em 10%. Em 2009, 1.513 estudantes se inscreveram para o concurso vestibular, ante 1.365 no ano anterior. Já na UFPR, localizada na capital paranaense, Curitiba, a queda foi mais significativa: 20%.
Outras instituições tradicionais, como a Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo (PUC-SP) e a Faculdade Cásper Líbero aguardam resultados, já que as inscrições ao processo seletivo ainda estão abertas.
