A partir desta segunda (9/11), até o dia 27 deste mês, todas as escolas públicas com mais de 20 alunos participam da Prova Brasil. O exame, que é direcionado a estudantes da 4ª e da 8ª séries do ensino fundamental e do 3° ano do ensino médio, é um dos principais componentes do Índice de Desenvolvimento da Educação Básica (Ideb), indicador que mede a qualidade do ensino no país.

Em 2005, o Ideb foi medido pela primeira vez e a média nacional foi de 3,8 pontos (em uma escala de 0 a 10) para os primeiros anos do ensino fundamental. Em 2007, chegou a 4,2, superando a meta de 3,9 pontos estabelecida para o período. O objetivo é atingir a nota 6 até 2022. Além da Prova Brasil, o Ideb leva em conta a taxa de aprovação do aluno. Cada escola, município e estado tem a sua própria nota.

Os estudantes serão avaliados em português e matemática. Para os alunos da 4ª série serão 22 questões de múltipla escolha para cada matéria. Já os alunos do último ano do ensino fundamental e do 3° ano do ensino médio terão que responder a 26 questões de cada disciplina. Para cada nível avaliado existem 21 modelos diferentes da prova. Também serão avaliados – em forma de amostra – estudantes da rede privada de ensino.

No site do Ministério da Educação, professores podem ter acessos a modelos da prova. Segundo o MEC, os resultados da Prova Brasil serão divulgados no primeiro semestre de 2010.
