Censo mostra que ingresso de alunos cresceu 8,5% em 2008
Em 2008, ingressaram em cursos de graduação 1,9 milhão de novos alunos, o que representa crescimento de 8,5% com relação a 2007. Os dados do censo da educação superior de 2008, divulgados nesta sexta-feira, 27, informam que o país tem 5,8 milhões de estudantes em instituições públicas e particulares.
O censo também mostra evolução nas matrículas da educação a distância. Elas aumentaram 96,9% com relação a 2007 e, em 2008, passaram a representar 14,3% do total de estudantes na graduação. De acordo com o presidente do Instituto Nacional de Estudos e Pesquisas Educacionais (Inep), Reynaldo Fernandes, a educação a distância agregou outros públicos — pessoas mais velhas ou que ingressaram na segunda graduação. Outra explicação é a de que as matrículas em educação a distância eram praticamente zero em 2002 e 2003.
Para Maria Paula Dallari Bucci, secretária de educação superior do Ministério da Educação, a mudança das regras da educação a distância em 2007 é outro fator de incentivo. De acordo com a nova legislação, a instituição que oferecer cursos a distância deve ter polos presenciais autorizados pelo Ministério da Educação. O processo de supervisão dos cursos, pela Secretaria de Educação a Distância (Seed) do MEC, é outro fator destinado a assegurar ensino superior de qualidade, segundo Maria Paula.
Dados atualizados da Secretaria de Educação Superior (Sesu) indicam que a taxa bruta de matrículas em cursos de graduação é de 20,52% — a taxa bruta corresponde ao total de matrículas no ensino superior dividido pelo total de jovens de 18 a 24 anos. Já a taxa líquida é de 13,71%. O cálculo dessa taxa leva em conta apenas as matrículas no ensino superior de estudantes na faixa etária de 18 a 24 anos.
O Plano Nacional de Educação (PNE), aprovado em 2001, previa para 2011, último ano de vigência, o ingresso na universidade de 30% das pessoas com idade entre 18 e 24 anos, em todo o Brasil. O cálculo da taxa líquida, de acordo com o PNE, desconhece pessoas que cursam graduação com idade acima de 24 anos, explica Maria Paula.
