A Comissão de Assuntos Econômicos (CAE) do Senado aprovou hoje, 8, o projeto de lei que altera as regras do Fundo de Financiamento ao Estudante do Ensino Superior (Fies). Como a tramitação tinha caráter terminativo, após o prazo de recursos, o texto segue para sanção presidencial.

O Fies é um programa destinado a financiar a graduação na educação superior de estudantes de instituições privadas que não têm condições de arcar integralmente com os custos de sua formação. A taxa de juros atualmente é de 6,5% ao ano, com exceção dos cursos de licenciatura e de tecnologia, que pagam 3,5%.

A partir da sanção, a nova taxa de juros de 3,5% ao ano, aprovada em agosto deste ano pelo Conselho Monetário Nacional (CMN), valerá para todos os cursos, tanto para os novos contratos, mas também para o saldo devedor dos já financiados. Além disso, o projeto alonga de duas para três vezes o tempo de duração do curso como prazo máximo para o pagamento da dívida.

Outra importante mudança é a possibilidade de os egressos dos cursos de licenciatura e medicina que atuarem como professores da rede pública ou como médicos do programa Saúde da Família pagarem o financiamento com o exercício da profissão. Com isso, reduzirão 1% da dívida a cada mês trabalhado.
