Presidente homenageia Haddad na entrega do Prêmio Educador 2009
Com uma agenda corrida, a visita do presidente Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva ao Rio nesta segunda (25) começou na sala na sala Cecília Meirelles, na Lapa, em solenidade de entrega do Prêmio Fernando de Azevedo Educador 2009 ao ministro da Educação Fernando Haddad. Num discurso improvisado, o presidente não poupou elogios a Haddad e citou vários das realizações do ministro nos últimos quatro anos.
“Graças aos projetos Prouni e Reuni, por exemplo, nunca vi tanto pobre fazendo universidade neste país. E não apenas cursando letras ou cursos que são mais baratos, mas também medicina ou engenharia, todos cursos que eles têm direito de escolher como qualquer outro cidadão brasileiro”.
Lula lembrou das Olimpíadas de Matemática, que tinha apenas 274 mil alunos brasileiros de escolas particulares há pouco mais de quatro anos. No ano passado, elas tiveram 19 milhões de crianças inscritas entre escolas privadas e públicas..
“Talvez nem a China tenha uma equipe maior que a nossa. Essas Olimpíadas são grandes incentivadoras para as crianças estudarem. Quem vier a assumir o ministério depois de você, Haddad, terá que fazer muito mais. Mudou-se o patamar da educação do Brasil”.
Lula participa neste momento da inauguração das obras do Programa de Aceleração do Crescimento (PAC) em Entre Rios e em Colônia Juliano Moreira, em Jacarepaguá.
À noite, o presidente Lula participa da comemoração do aniversário de 100 anos de Dona Amélia Buarque de Holanda, mãe de Chico Buarque, na residência da família, no Alto Leblon.
