Projeto vai ampliar acesso ao ensino superior a distância no Rio
As áreas urbanas do estado do Rio de Janeiro vão ganhar acesso à internet sem fio. A partir de março próximo, a Secretaria Estadual de Ciência e Tecnologia do Rio de Janeiro vai disponibilizar na internet o portal do projeto Rio Estado Digital, que está sendo trabalhado em conjunto por cinco universidades do estado: Pontifícia Universidade Católica (PUC), Universidade do estado do Rio de Janeiro (Uerj), Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF), Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) e Instituto Militar de Engenharia (IME).
“É, talvez, um caso inédito na nossa história de juntar cinco universidades em um projeto”, disse em entrevista à Agência Brasil o subsecretário de Ciência e Tecnologia do Rio, Julio Lagun. O projeto Rio Estado Digital prevê a implantação uma rede de cobertura digital banda larga sem fio nas áreas urbanas do estado, com a finalidade de incluir digitalmente as pessoas e promover sua capacitação profissional.
No portal, serão oferecidos todos os cursos de ensino a distância que o Centro de Ciências e Educação Superior a Distância (Cecierj) tem disponíveis. “Com isso, [nós vamos] amplificar em muito a potencialidade dele, fundamentalmente dentro do ensino profissionalizante, que é uma das grandes lacunas que nós temos hoje”.
Julio Lagun revelou que o Cecierj tem atualmente 26 mil alunos inscritos. O número supera o total de estudantes [em torno de 23 mil] da UERJ. “Você vê que o ensino a distância é uma arma educacional poderosíssima”. O Cecierj cobre o estado do Rio por meio de 33 polos. “Você imagina debaixo da internet o que pode significar. Certamente, vai multiplicar por cinco ou seis a demanda”, estimou.
O portal vai criar uma delimitação para atender o estado do Rio, contribuindo para reduzir a carência hoje existente. “Principalmente das populações C, D e E, que não têm essa facilidade de acesso. No momento em que você tiver uma cobertura de banda larga gratuita, em que todos possam vir a acessar e se inscrever, você vai ter uma demanda explosiva”.
Lagun enfatizou ainda que a internet é, atualmente, uma ferramenta que nivela rapidamente as possibilidades das pessoas.
