Aluno da educação básica custa R$ 2.632 ao ano
Um aluno da educação básica custou ao Brasil R$ 2.632 anuais, sendo que o maior investimento está nas séries finais do ensino fundamental (6° ao 9° ano), com um custo de R$ 2.946 por estudante ao ano. É o que aponta estudo sobre o investimento público em educação em 2008, divulgado dia 16 pelo Ministério da Educação (MEC).
De acordo com a série histórica divulgada pelo ministério, de 2000 para 2008 o valor investido por aluno na educação básica passou de R$ 808 para R$ 2.632 – mais do que triplicou. Apesar do aumento, ainda é pouco mais do que os valores mensais cobrados por escolas particulares.
No ensino superior, o valor investido por aluno foi de R$ 14.763 . É como se cada universitário custasse cinco vezes mais do que um estudante da educação básica. Apesar de ainda ser grande a discrepância, essa relação vem diminuindo. Em 2000, por exemplo, o investimento em um aluno do ensino superior era 11 vezes maior do que na educação básica. A meta do MEC é reduzir para quatro essa proporção, o que é recomendado pela Organização para a Cooperação e o Desenvolvimento Econômico (OCDE).
