A partir de hoje (15), as 300 escolas da rede pública que vão participar do programa Um Computador por Aluno (UCA) começam a receber os laptops. No primeiro lote serão distribuídos 33.765 máquinas para 85 escolas em dez estados até 13 de maio. De acordo com o Ministério da Educação (MEC), até o final de 2010 serão entregues 150 mil computadores.

As escolas participantes do programa foram escolhidas pelas secretarias estaduais de educação e pela União Nacional dos Dirigentes Municipais de Educação (Undime). Cada uma delas deve definir, de acordo com seu projeto pedagógico, a forma como os computadores serão utilizados em sala de aula. Segundo o MEC, os equipamentos possuem um sistema de segurança que desativa o computador caso ele permaneça muito tempo fora da escola. O prazo de garantia das máquinas é de um ano.

Cada laptop do UCA saiu por R$ 550. O total de investimento no programa foi de R$ 82 milhões. O equipamento tem 512 megabytes de memória, tela de cristal líquido de sete polegadas, bateria com autonomia mínima de três horas e peso de 1,5 quilo.
