Medalha Paulo Freire premiará bons projetos de alfabetização
Experiências de alfabetização e de educação de jovens e adultos, desenvolvidas nas 27 unidades da Federação, podem ser inscritas até 28 de maio para concorrer à Medalha Paulo Freire. O concurso é dirigido a projetos e programas desenvolvidos por universidades, movimentos sociais, organizações não-governamentais e os vinculados às secretarias estaduais e municipais de educação.
Os objetivos da iniciativa do Ministério da Educação são reconhecer e estimular experiências educacionais que promovam ações bem sucedidas na alfabetização e educação de jovens e adultos. A medalha tem caráter cultural e educacional e não está vinculada a prêmio de qualquer natureza. Podem concorrer experiências iniciadas até novembro de 2009. Cada entidade ou instituição inscreve um projeto.
Calendário - Pelo calendário, as inscrições vão até 28 de maio; a análise dos projetos pelas comissões estaduais e distrital, até 25 de junho; seleção estadual (até dois projetos), 28 de junho; envio dos selecionados para o MEC, 2 de junho; pré-seleção nacional de até dez experiências, no período de 5 a 19 de julho; visita da comissão técnica nacional aos projetos, de 2 a 20 de agosto; seleção nacional, de 30 de agosto a 9 de setembro; divulgação dos resultados, 16 de setembro.
Da primeira edição, em 2005, até 2009, a Medalha Paulo Freire recebeu 66 inscrições de experiências. Foram distribuídas 13 medalhas para entidades de dez unidades da Federação. Nas edições de 2005, 2006 e 2009, os vencedores receberam medalha criada pelo artista e escultor pernambucano Francisco Brennand. Em 2010, a medalha será confeccionada pela Casa da Moeda.
