Ministro anuncia criação de bolsas de pós-graduação para negros
No dia em que se comemora os 122 anos da Lei Áurea, o ministro da Secretaria Especial de Políticas de Promoção da Igualdade Racial (Seppir), Eloi Ferreira, anunciou nesta quinta (13) a criação de 250 bolsas de pós-graduação para alunos negros ou pardos e um aumento de 200 bolsas do Programa de Iniciação Científica (Pibic), que passarão de 600 para 800 em 2010.
O ministro destacou que, apesar de o sistema de cotas não ser obrigatório no Brasil, 91 universidades públicas do país adotam a reserva de vagas no vestibular para alunos negros.
Ele também anunciou o lançamento de um selo para identificar as instituições de ensino que promovem a Lei nº 10.639, de 2003. O texto tornou obrigatória a inclusão da história do povo negro e suas contribuições culturais, econômicas e sociais para o país no currículo de ensino infantil, fundamental e médio. A entrega dos selos ocorrerá em 20 de novembro, Dia da Consciência Negra.
Para Eloi Ferreira, as ações divulgadas hoje ajudam a corrigir injustiças e distorções históricas. “A promulgação da Lei Áurea não foi acompanhada de uma inclusão educacional, habitacional e isso faz com que até hoje o negro continue na base da pirâmide social”, afirmou.
O ministro defendeu também a criação do Estatuto de Igualdade Racial, que já foi aprovado pela Câmara e aguarda votação no Senado. “Essa lei será como um segundo artigo da Lei Áurea. Ela garante o respeito às religiões de matriz africana e garante a possibilidade de acesso à terra aos remanescentes quilombolas”, destacou.
