Lula critica antecessores que não incentivaram jovens pobres a entrar no ensino superior
O presidente Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva criticou na quarta (30) os governantes anteriores que não investiram em programas para que jovens de baixa renda do país ingressassem no ensino universitário.
Ao abrir seminário sobre perspectivas profissionais para alunos da primeira turma de formandos em medicina do Programa Universidade para Todos (ProUni), o presidente relembrou das críticas e da resistência no lançamento do programa que dá bolsas de estudo para ex-estudantes de escolas públicas em universidades particulares. Segundo ele, muitos alegavam que o nível do ensino superior iria piorar com o ingresso dos alunos das classes mais pobres
“Houve descaso com o Brasil. Esse país foi governado por muita gente com diploma universitário, mas, me parece, que não tinha nenhuma vontade de dar ao povo brasileiro a oportunidade que tiveram de se formar”, afirmou Lula.
O ministro da Educação, Fernando Haddad, disse também que os alunos superaram o preconceito inicial com bom desempenho. “Mas vocês provaram para o país que mérito e renda são duas coisas completamente diferentes”, defendeu. Segundo o ministro, o desempenho dos bolsistas do programa é igual ou superior ao dos alunos pagantes.
O presidente Lula voltou a dizer que até o final de seu mandato serão entregues 214 escolas técnicas – número superior as 140 instaladas antes de seu mandato. “Essa meninada [formandos em medicina] estava predestinada a não dar certo na vida por não ter oportunidade”, acrescentou.
Criado em 2005, o ProUni distribui bolsas de estudo em instituições públicas de ensino superior a alunos de baixa renda que tenham estudado em escola pública. Em troca da concessão do benefício, as universidades e faculdades recebem isenção fiscal.
Haddad reforçou hoje o pedido para que o Supremo Tribunal Federal (STF) acelere o julgamento de uma ação que questiona a constitucionalidade do ProUni. “A educação não pode ser partidarizada”, defendeu.
