UFRJ amplia cotas para ingresso de estudantes pobres
A Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) decidiu ampliar o percentual de vagas destinadas ao ingresso de alunos pobres. A medida foi decidida pelo Conselho Universitário (Consuni), em reunião ocorrida ontem (12), em reunião do Conselho Universitário (Consuni), e vale para o próximo ano, de acordo com informações foram divulgadas pela assessoria da UFRJ, na página da universidade na internet (www.ufrj.br).
Como não houve consenso entre os integrantes do Consuni sobre o percentual de vagas e a política de assistência aos estudantes de baixa renda, o detalhamento da medida será definido em reunião extraordinária do conselho, na próxima quinta-feira (19).
De acordo com a universidade, o último concurso de acesso teve 72 mil inscritos, sendo que 54% eram procedentes de escolas particulares, embora os estudantes que terminam o ensino médio em escolas públicas no estado do Rio representem 80% do total. Outro fato destacado foi a concentração de 52% dos candidatos em apenas sete, das 116 opções de cursos de graduação.
O reitor da UFRJ, Aloísio Teixeira, afirmou que a proposta de ampliação de vagas para alunos pobres terá caráter experimental. Ele ressaltou que embora o percentual de estudantes com esse perfil seja superior a 10% na universidade um todo, isso não ocorre em cursos como medicina e direito, e que a adoção de ações afirmativas nesses casos seriam uma medida democratizante.
