Em dois meses, 42 mil estudantes fecharam contrato do Fies
O Fundo de Financiamento aos Estudantes do Ensino Superior (Fies) formalizou até agora 42.934 contratos de financiamentos, segundo balanço do Ministério da Educação (MEC). As inscrições começaram há dois meses com novas regras para contratação e pagamento da dívida.
De acordo com o ministério, o número supera o de 2009 quando foram feitos 32 mil contratos durante todo o ano. No lançamento do novo Fies, o ministro da Educação, Fernando Haddad, disse que havia recursos disponíveis para 200 mil novos contratos.
O programa permite que universitários financiem os estudos em cursos superiores de instituições particulares. O processo de seleção para o Fies, que antes era feito no início de cada semestre, pode ser feito a qualquer momento. O estudante deve se inscrever pelo SisFies e procurar uma agência da Caixa Econômica para efetuar o financiamento.
Além dos 42 mil contratos firmados, 17 mil candidatos se inscreveram no sistema, mas ainda não formalizaram a contratação do financiamento na Caixa Econômica Federal. Segundo o ministério, 729 mantenedoras de instituições de ensino superior participam atualmente do Fies e 144 estão em fase de adesão. O Fundo Nacional de Desenvolvimento da Educação (FNDE), agente operador do Fies, emitiu certificados equivalentes a R$ 353 milhões para os contratos de 2010.
