MEC suspende cursos de licenciatura de universidade de Araras

Após o Ministério Público Federal recomendar ao Centro Universitário de Araras Dr. Edmundo Ulson que suspendesse a oferta de oito de seus cursos, o Ministério da Educação decidiu desativar oito cursos de licenciatura da Unar, no interior de São Paulo, por irregularidades na carga horária e no corpo docente. Segundo despacho da Secretaria de Educação Superior publicado nesta terça-feira no Diário Oficial da União, o Unar oferecia “aulas apenas aos finais de semana, uma vez por mês”.

O ministério considerou insatisfatória a defesa do Unar e determinou a desativação dos cursos de licenciatura em Geografia, História, Letras, Matemática, Pedagogia, Educação Física, Sociologia e Filosofia. Está proibido o ingresso de novos alunos nestes cursos, mas os atuais alunos podem concluí-los. De acordo com o despacho, "nas manifestações de defesa a instituição tentou, sem sucesso responsabilizar terceiros pelas irregularidades praticadas".

Também foi suspensa a prerrogativa de autonomia do Unar, que concedia caráter de universidade à instituição e a liberdade para criar cursos e vagas sem autorização expressa do MEC.

O Unar tem 30 dias para apresentar recurso contra a aplicação das penalidades ao Conselho Nacional de Educação. Procurado pela reportagem, o Unar ainda não enviou resposta.
