Unesco vai trabalhar pela reativação do sistema educacional do Haiti
A Organização das Nações Unidas para Educação, Ciência e Cultura (Unesco) enviou equipes de emergência ao Haiti e, com o objetivo de reorganizar o sistema educacional do país, está buscando recursos para três projetos educacionais avaliados em US$ 1,9 milhão, quase R$ 3,5 milhões.
De acordo com as Nações Unidas, o sistema educacional do Haiti foi severamente afetado devido ao terremoto. Pelo menos metade das 15 mil escolas de ensino fundamental e das 1,5 mil escolas de ensino médio foram destruídas ou estão danificadas. As iniciativas da Unesco têm como enfoque a reativação imediata do ensino escolar e o fornecimento de educação de emergência para os alunos.
Na capital, Porto Príncipe, há pelo menos três universidades praticamente em ruínas. Até a sede do Ministério da Educação foi seriamente afetada. A Unesco informou que pretende treinar professores e profissionais do setor na conscientização de desastres, dar assistência psicológica para estudantes de ensino médio e universitários, além de educar autoridades com treinamento básico de planejamento e gestão de emergência.
