Audiência discutirá regulamentação de universidades comunitárias

A Comissão de Educação e Cultura promove hoje audiência pública para discutir uma proposta elaborada pelas universidades comunitárias para regulamentar o setor. Essa proposta vem sendo discutida desde 2008 e sua redação foi concluída no início de 2010. O texto ainda não tramita na Câmara.

A deputada Maria do Rosário (PT-RS), que solicitou o debate, lembra que a legislação brasileira não contempla a figura de entidade pública não-estatal nem regulamenta o ensino superior comunitário. Segundo a deputada, a falta de regulamentação limita a cooperação entre as universidades comunitárias e o Estado.

“No momento em que forem mais apoiadas pelo poder público, essas instituições podem ser fator de rápido incremento da inclusão de jovens na educação superior”, diz Maria do Rosário.

A deputada lembra que, atualmente, apenas 13% dos jovens de 18 a 24 anos estão na universidade. A meta do Plano Nacional de Educação, no entanto, é aumentar esse percentual para 30% até 2011.

Maria do Rosário é presidente da Frente Parlamentar em Defesa das Universidades Comunitárias.
