Hugo Chávez anuncia rompimento diplomático com a Colômbia
O presidente da Venezuela, Hugo Chávez, anunciou nesta quinta (22) o rompimento das relações diplomáticas com a Colômbia, que acusa o governo venezuelano de esconder supostos membros das Forças Armadas Revolucionárias da Colômbia (Farc) e do Exército de Libertação Nacional (ELN).
“Não nos resta, por dignidade, mais do que romper totalmente as relações diplomáticas com a Colômbia e isso nos corta o coração. Eu anuncio com uma lágrima no coração que rompemos todas as relações com a Colômbia”, afirmou Chávez, segundo a Agência Venezuelana de Notícias (AVN).
Já de acordo com a agência de notícias BBC, o presidente venezuelano decretou alerta máximo na fronteira com a Colômbia. O rompimento ocorreu depois de o governo do colombiano Álvaro Uribe ter dito, em reunião da Organização dos Estados Americanos (OEA), que mil e quinhentos guerrilheiros colombianos estão em território venezuelano.
Esta é a segunda vez que Chávez rompe com o governo de Uribe. A primeira foi em 2008, quando tropas colombianas entraram no Equador para atacar um acampamento das Farc.
Segundo a BBC, o embaixador da Colômbia na OEA, Luis Hoyos, apresentou fotos dos rebeldes em acampamentos a poucos quilômetros da fronteira venezuelana. De acordo com o embaixador, as fotos são "provas" da presença dos guerrilheiros no país vizinho.
A Colômbia quer ainda que, em um prazo de 30 dias, uma comissão internacional visite os supostos acampamentos na Venezuela. Na reunião, o embaixador venezuelano Roy Chaderton, revidou as acusações e afirmou que as fotos não permitem identificar se se trata de território da Venezuela ou da Colômbia, conforme a BBC.
Chaderton também pediu que uma outra comissão visite as bases militares usadas pelos Estados Unidos na Colômbia – fato que provocou atritos entre os dois países.
