FGV: quase 30 milhões entraram na classe média nos últimos sete anos

Quase 30 milhões de pessoas ingressaram na nova classe média entre 2003 e 2009. O dado foi divulgado nesta sexta-feira (10) pelo coordenador do Centro de Políticas Sociais da Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV), Marcelo Néri. De acordo com a pesquisa, na época da crise a classe C cresceu mais do que as demais, chegando no ano passado a abranger 94,9 milhões de brasileiros, ou seja, mais da metade da população.

Ainda de acordo com o levantamento A Nova Classe Média: o Lado Brilhante dos Pobres, a proporção da população que integrava as classes D e E em 1992 é a mesma ocupada hoje pela soma da população das classes A, B e C (mais de 61% dos brasileiros). “Em seis anos, 35,6 milhões de pessoas foram incorporadas às classes A, B e C, o que equivale a mais da metade de um país como a França. Desse total, 10% foram registrados no ano passado, que foi o ano da crise”, explicou Néri. Ele definiu o período 2008/2009 como um ano de crise para as elites, mas não para as estatísticas sociais.
