Com vistas a fortalecer o intercâmbio cultural entre as comunidades de língua portuguesa, a Comissão de Educação e Cultura da Câmara, aprovou, por unanimidade, na quarta-feira (13), o relatório do deputado Antônio Carlos Biffi (PT-MS), ao projeto de lei (PL 3891-A/08), que cria a Universidade Federal da Integração Lusofonia-Afro-Brasileira (Unilab) no município de Redenção, localizado no estado do Ceará.

De acordo com o relatório apresentado pelo parlamentar, além dos cursos de ensino superior, a criação da UniLab visa oferecer pesquisas em diversas áreas do conhecimento, promover o desenvolvimento regional, intercâmbio cultural, científico e educacional e extensão universitária, o que fortalecerá a integração entre Angola, Brasil, Cabo Verde, Guiné Bissau, Moçambique, Portugal, São Tomé e Príncipe, Timor Leste, países membros da Comunidade dos Países de Língua Portuguesa (CPLP).

Biffi explicou ainda que das cinco mil vagas que a instituição deve oferecer, a metade contemplará alunos brasileiros e a outra metade a estrangeiros, com prioridade a alunos de países africanos.

“É mais um importante passo do Governo Lula rumo à consolidação do desenvolvimento educacional brasileiro e refletirá positivamente na integração entre os povos que falam a língua portuguesa. Sinto-me realizado com essa ação, pois, em seis anos de mandato, essa é a segunda relatoria que elaboro e resulta na criação de uma universidade federal, sendo a primeira a UFGD em Mato Grosso do Sul”, lembrou Biffi.

O PL foi aprovado na Comissão de Educação e Cultura e segue para análise e votação nas comissões de Finanças e Tributação e, em seguida, Constituição e Justiça.
