Meninas com acesso ao ensino têm mais probabilidade de ter melhores condições de vida e maior poder de decisão na fase adulta, indica o relatório Demos uma Chance às Meninas, divulgado hoje (10) pela Organização Internacional do Trabalho (OIT).

Segundo a pesquisa, mães estudaram na infância são mais propensas a se esforçar para manter os filhos na escola. Evitar o trabalho infantil entre as meninas e garantir o direito à educação são, de acordo com o estudo, “estratégias cruciais” para promover o desenvolvimento delas.

“Há poucos países e comunidades que oferecem às meninas as mesmas oportunidades oferecidas aos meninos. O acesso aos estudos é um dos direitos de todo ser humano, mas meninos e meninas recebem tratamento diferenciado em muitas partes do mundo. Os resultados são desigualdades evidentes”, afirma o estudo.

As mulheres representam quase dois terços da população analfabeta mundia, dado que, de acordo com a pesquisa, reflete “a magnitude” das desigualdades na área de educação.

Em 2009, a Convenção 182 da OIT – que trata da proibição das piores formas de trabalho infantil – completa dez anos. O relatório da organização destaca que o Artigo 7 da convenção trata especificamente da situação de meninas e que, em 2007, foi adotado um plano de ação global com o propósito de erradicar todas as formas de trabalho infantil até 2016.
