País está começando a resgatar direitos dos negros, diz Edson Santos
O ministro da Secretaria de Políticas de Promoção da Igualdade Racial (Seppir) da Presidência da República, Edson Santos, disse nesta quinta (24) que os negros no país têm que ser tratados de forma específica. Segundo ele, o Estado tem uma dívida com essa população.
Em entrevista ao programa Bom Dia, Ministro, nos estúdios da Empresa Brasil de Comunicação (EBC) ele afirmou que o país é a segunda maior nação negra do mundo e está começando a fazer o resgate de direitos que não foram conferidos pela Abolição da Escravatura. Depois de 350 anos de escravidão, a abolição ocorrida há 120 anos não contemplou os negros com a propriedade da terra e com políticas de inclusão social.
A população afrodescente ainda é discriminada no acesso à educação, à saúde e ao mercado de trabalho, sofrendo restrições até por suas práticas religiosas. Ele afirma que há no país 3,5 mil comunidades quilombolas, mas não se sabe ainda qual o contingente total dessa população, pois ainda será catalogada pelo Instituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estatística (IBGE).
"O governo está no momento desenvolvendo políticas de apoio a essas comunidades, inclusive com apoio tecnológico à fabricação de produtos agrícolas como a farinha”, disse. “É preciso mudar dentro de um clima de respeito e até de convencimento sobre suas práticas tradicionais”, completou.
