Estatuto da Igualdade Racial pode ser aprovado ainda neste mês

O ministro Edson Santos, da Secretaria Especial de Políticas de Promoção da Igualdade Racial, o senador Paulo Paim (PT-RS) e o deputado Onyx Lorenzoni (DEM-RS) informaram ao presidente do Senado, em audiência nesta terça-feira (10), que obtiveram do senador Demóstenes Torres (DEM-GO) - presidente da Comissão de Constituição, Justiça e Cidadania (CCJ) e relator naquele colegiado do Estatuto da Igualdade Racial (PLS 213/03) - a garantia de uma tramitação rápida da matéria. A ideia é garantir a aprovação do estatuto no Congresso antes do dia 20 de novembro, Dia da Consciência Negra.

De acordo com Paim, Sarney voltou a manifestar seu apoio à iniciativa e o orientou a apresentar um requerimento de urgência para garantir que, em entendimento com os líderes, o projeto prevaleça sobre as outras deliberações.

De autoria do senador Paulo Paim, o Estatuto da Igualdade Racial tramita no Congresso Nacional há seis anos. Foi aprovado na Câmara em setembro, na forma do substitutivo do deputado Antônio Roberto (PV-MG). O texto prevê medidas como o incentivo à contratação de negros em empresas, o reconhecimento da capoeira como esporte, o livre exercício dos cultos religiosos de origem africana, a reclusão de até três anos para quem expressar manifestações racistas na internet e o estímulo às atividades produtivas da população negra no campo.

- É muito importante que, obtido o consenso na Câmara, o Senado nos ajude para que, ainda neste ano, a comunidade negra veja o estatuto aprovado em sessão histórica - disse o deputado Onyx, que participou das articulações pelas alterações no texto original.
