2 de dezembro Dia Nacional do Samba

Nesta quarta-feira, 2 de dezembro, comemora-se o Dia Nacional do Samba. A comemoração surgiu por iniciativa de um vereador baiano, Luis Monteiro da Costa e foi instituído pela Câmara de Vereadores da cidade de Salvador em 1940, como parte das homenagens ao compositor Ary Barroso, autor da música "Na baixa do Sapateiro", música que exaltava o Estado da Bahia, que ele não conhecia ainda. O dia 2 de dezembro foi a data que ele visitou Salvador pela primeira vez.

A festa se espalhou pelo Brasil e virou comemoração nacional em 1963, virando o Dia Nacional do Samba.

O Samba
Gênero básico da MPB, o samba tem origem afro-baiana de tempero carioca. Ele nasceu nas casas das "tias" baianas da Praça Onze, no centro do Rio (com extensão à chamada "pequena África", da Pedra do Sal à Cidade Nova), descendente do lundu, nas festas dos terreiros entre umbigadas (semba) e pernadas de capoeira, marcado no pandeiro, prato-e-faca e na palma da mão.

Com a explosão da era do rádio a partir dos anos 30, o samba ganha enorme difusão. O ritmo passa a identificar musicalmente Brasil no exterior e é um dos nossos mais importantes patrimônios culturais.
Abaixo um filme de animação considerado um clássico, produzido pelos estúdios Disney em 1942, onde o personagem Zé Carioca mostra para o Pato Donald os locais do Rio de Janeiro, ao som de "Aquarela do Brasil, do mestre Ary Barroso.
